By choosing true professionals to photograph your day, you can be rest assured you are in capable hands with an experienced staff. Each wedding receives our personal attention customized to your personality. It is through our knowledge and expertise that we will produce amazing and memorable images for you as your day unfolds, all the while having fun and enjoying the day.
Our Style:
In your research, you have no doubt been coming across the same words to describe a photographer's particular style...descriptions like traditional, candid, photojournalistic, formal...the lists goes on. Along with their own inspirational elements, a talented photographer has the ability to understand your expectations for your wedding day and create them as you envision them. Our goal is to capture the emotion, the fun, the love and drama of your day. To be honest, at The Photography Studio we really don't type or catagorize our work in describing our wedding photography...our style is about beauty.
The Plan:
Once you have decided on us to cover your wedding photography, it won't be long before we'll get to know each other on a more personal level. Consultations give one another good information of your expectations for your day and any ideas you may have, but an engagement photo session can really let our personalities shine through! Engagement sessions are always a great way for you to get a feel for my style of work and for me to understand you, as a couple and what makes you so unique. These sessions are included with all full-day and partial-day wedding services or can be arranged anytime for others.
As we get closer to the date, we start collecting all the details involved for your day... from your dress, to colours, to any last-minute changes you may have made and thus, we begin putting the picture together.
Of course, we are always here to help you along the way with anything we possibly can.
Here are a few tips that we put together we feel are important to consider . . .
Choosing your location:
• To help make your decision easier, choose a few locations and visit them, walk around and see what you like and don't like about the area. Think about the time of year/season it will be...flowers/foliage.
• Make the most of your time...look into choosing a location that's at or nearby your reception venue or in-between, you don't want to be spending your time driving around.
• Consider the distance between your wedding ceremony and the reception. You may think you have 2 hours for photography, but it will really be less if it takes 30 minutes between places.
Scouting your location:
Once you have chosen a location for your wedding photography, I make a date to meet with you at this area to do a "go through" together and I listen to any ideas you both may have. Something my team and I always do a few weeks and often days before each wedding, is to scout out the location(s) once more and really see what we can work with and new creations that come to mind. We are always looking for something a little different and unique at each place. We are also considering the best back-up plan and alternatives for any weather related issues that may arise.
Second Shooter:
At every wedding I, Paul George will always be your primary photographer. Although I am more than capable of photographing alone, having a skilled and competent second shooter at your wedding is an added benefit to all. For timeline, extra coverage, and logistics...they're a great asset. Having a second shooter allows me to shoot coverage of the Bride as she's getting ready, while my second shooter Mark can be with the men as they are getting ready ...allowing me more relaxed time and coverage with the Bride and her preparations. Same goes for the ceremony, I am focusing on you at one angle, while my second shooter is focusing from a different perspective. Mark is an experienced photographer with a knack for moments ...you will see for yourself in his candid and storytelling images. I feel very fortunate to have someone like Mark as part of my team and so will you.
Family:
About a week in advance, we will ask you to come up with a family "must have" list of shots to be photographed, such as parents, grandparents, special out-of-town relatives, ect. Consider this list carefully and be specific with names, as this is what we use on your wedding day to ensure we have all your important family shots. Generally, it is often at the Bride's house and after the ceremony that we will shoot family and any posed/formals first, before moving on to the location site with you and your wedding party.
Time factor:
Any professional photographer understands the importance of doing their best to stick to a timely schedule for everyone involved on this day and we fully respect that. It is through experience and organization that your photo shoot will be fun and easy, instead of hectic or perhaps out of control. We not only craft beautiful images in this time but we keep things running as smoothly as possible. Even though we share lots of laughter and light-heartedness in this time, we do take our work very seriously and we have certain techniques in making our shooting maximal and time-efficient. We will share with you in detail these procedures a week or so beforehand.
Recommendations:
The Photography Studio works with many professional and outstanding people in the wedding business. We would be happy to recommend those we feel are the best in the biz...from a top-notch wedding planner to the tastiest cakes in town! Just ask.
Tears and Laughter:
Throughout my career I have met and photographed many wonderful people, and many of them had interesting and sometimes touching stories regarding their lives. It's always with a sense of pride knowing I captured those emotions for them, there's just something about looking over your work afterwards and actually feeling that emotion from the photograph . . . I think this is why I love photographing weddings like I do . . . the array of emotions on this day is like no other. One might think this is too stressful or too much drama to be enjoyable, but it's quite the opposite for me. The energy and laughter of the day brings out the best of everyone making it easy to create your one of a kind photographs, but it's also about something else. It's about capturing those precious, fleeting moments in time...I know it sounds cliche, but it's the truth. I understand these feelings and I think I can honestly say I've developed a keen awareness for these moments...a look across the room to one another, the clutching of a grandparent's hand or a brother's tear lovingly being brushed away...you didn't even know I was there. These are the genuine moments I talk about. This is your day you have planned. It is about you, your venue, your family and loved ones.
